Who We Are

The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) is a multi-purpose regional entity recognized by the state of Michigan. The TCRPC supports the region of mid-Michigan by planning for and coordinating intergovernmental solutions to growth-related problems, providing technical assistance to local governments and meeting the needs of communities across the region.

(Fun facts about the Greater Lansing Michigan region of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties)
Converting a 4 lane road into 3, usually with a center turn lane and two sides of bike lane; is called a "road diet" and can be safe and healthy. Mid-Michigan's tri-county region is a national leader in road diets with 15 miles converted and 18 miles more planned for conversion by 2016.

Regional News

• Congratulations to TCRPC's Environmental Planner, Erin Campbell for her professional contributions to watershed management! The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts selected Erin as Michigan's Statewide Friend of Conservation for 2011! And, the Eaton County Conservation District will recognize Erin as the Eaton County Conservationist of the Year at their annual meeting in January.
• Congratulations to TCRPC's Land Use Planner, Harmony Gmazel! Harmony was recognized recently with an Eaton County Park System Leadership Award and a State of Michigan Special Legislative Tribute for her efforts supporting parks and recreation planning.
• TCRPC has been awarded a Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant for $3 Million from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities!!!! This is going to be an invaluable program for the tri-county region and a tremendous asset that we are so excited about! Many thanks to EVERYONE who helped with grant writing and letters of support! We look forward to working with all of our partners in making this region "the place to be!"
• Congratulations to our Regional Businesses selected to receive support under a MEDC pilot program! Five regional companies have been selected to receive business development support through the Pure Michigan Business Connect Economic Gardening Pilot Program offered by MEDC.
• Congratulations to one of our Region's Great PlacesThe City of Leslie was awarded the 2011 Exemplary Wellhead Protection Program Award from the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association. In the presentation on Mackinaw Island, the AWWA noted, "The City of Leslie has done an excellent job at implementing an effective wellhead protection program and should be proud of this accomplishment. The Groundwater Committee was particularly impressed with the methods you have used to integrate the program with local, regional and state programs."
• Congratulations to our region's Michigan Biotechnology Institute (MBI) on their recent $4.3 million award from U.S. Department of Energy The contract supports their work processes to convert non-food renewable resources into energy sources. New fuel technologies can reduce our reliance on foreign fuel imports.
  

• Lansing-East Lansing Region Moves Up in Forbes Rankings for "Best Cities for Jobs" EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing-East Lansing Region is now ranked 19th among medium-sized cities in Forbes Magazine's May 2011 "Best Cities for Jobs" feature.
